An Interesting Thought About Global Warming
It's so Obvious, I Never Thought About it Before
less than 1 minute read…
excerpted from a lengthy article by Rod Martin, writing from a creationist perspective
“… glacial ice sheets once covered most of Canada, extending as far south as northern Washington, Illinois, Ohio, New York, and New England. Glaciers also covered much of Siberia and northern Europe. The massive ice sheets covering these areas melted prior to historical times. (emphasis mine) In fact, the majority of the glacial ice melted in the distant past. As corroboration that huge volumes of glacial ice melted in the past, there is strong geologic evidence that ocean levels have risen several hundred feet (61+ m) (Groombridge and Jenkins 2002, p. 35). Obviously, all this melting occurred long before mankind began burning fossil fuels on a large scale. (emphasis mine) In other words, glacial melting has been going on for thousands of years and mankind was not the cause. Most of the melting, and subsequent sea level rise, occurred long before the recent increase in atmospheric CO2.”
and Al Gore et al worries about 3mm per year ocean rise and 0.05 degree temp rise?
Today’s coffee and Covid discussed methane release from the arctic glaciers! It was a new thought to me too.
I'm 56. In grade 9 geography we studied glaciation (drumlins, glacial till, moraines etc). This is nothing new. The north american ice sheet reached its maximum about 45 thousand years ago. Mid Tennessee. Stayed there for about 13 thousand years then started to retreat. I mean, there was a kids movie a few years back called "Ice Age" . We all learned this in school. And all that melting happened way before there was any significant population let alone SUV's. I really don't understand how these climate alarmists can't understand this.
