“Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation…” Gen.1:11. God created the mysterious and miraculous process of photosynthesis, which transforms the sun’s energy into plants for food and timber for construction and fuel. The timber is a stored form of that solar energy.
When the whole earth was flooded, massive amounts of vegetation and timber were buried under great pressure and compacted into what became petroleum and coal. So oil and coal are stored forms of extremely compact solar energy, a blessing to mankind. Thanks to oil and coal, we don’t have to wait for a sunny day; we have the most efficient energy possible, day or night, and whether it’s sunny or cloudy or snowing.
The miraculous wonder of converting light energy into chemical bonds that were can eat!!! So elegant.
Some will speak against the smoke of open fires and its pollution without thinking of the pleasantness of a small open campfire and the peasantries of the smell of the burning wood. And, as an added benefit, think about the added warmth in the cool of the evening. These are enough to be thankful to God for providing. Thank you God.
