This is great news but as you say we need to do something about the permitting and excessive regulation delays in the US. The NRC has a mandate to regulate nuclear power generation safety but in reality it has done nothing but slow walk and obstruct it for decades. It took way too long for this to happen.
Sometime I will elaborate on my experience as an observer of Three Mile Island’s non-lethal accident in 1978 or ‘79 and the criminally negligent ignorance of the media in explaining what was happening.
Thanks - as you implied, I could have done my homework and researched all that, and maybe found most of it, but you just saved me a lot of time. Time is valuable.
Even techies need refreshers. As one with some experience in publishing, I recommend always spelling out acronyms on their first appearance in any article or chapter in a book. Since so many of us are still learning the ins and outs of many subjects, I would guess that others would appreciate, as I would, your spelling out some of the concepts you mention. Separate posts for each of the last three paragraphs would, I'm sure, help us understand the complex concepts you deal with off-handedly. I look forward to reading them. Really!
Sorry. I didn't mean to even seem mean. It is, however, for people immersed in a subject, easy to forget that their familiarity follows a lot of dedicated learning about that subject, and most people have not had the benefit of that learning. The glossary is great--even so, I think you could make great posts just explaining the background, the terms, the details in those last three paragraphs, and I for one would enjoy getting educated in those areas.
Nick, I appreciate your taking the time to read my post and comment on it. But frankly, with all the acronyms, I have no idea what you're saying, even though I was a physics major.
Except for the first two sentences, which of course I agree with.

Right.

It’s about time we got back to the efficient energy source and most powerful
