Is the Earth Really Millions of Years Old?
Science is Supposed to be a Search for Truth; not a Consensus of the Majority
The 18 second audio (click on it above) is a first time test as a potential addition to my substacks. If it works ok, I might narrate future essays for those who would rather listen than read. You might have to turn your speakers up.
living fossils
After reading an article by Tim Newcomb in popular mechanics Mar.13 about gars – “The seven species (of gars) alive today all remain largely unchanged for over 100 million years.”, I couldn’t help but be reminded of a post I wrote last year about living fossils. I argued that everything alive today is a living fossil. The fossil record contains ~ every plant and animal we see today. The reason we can identify those fossils is because essentially they haven’t changed! They idea that they have evolved is a myth and one of the biggest hoaxes of history, right alongside climate change hysteria and so-called vaccine “science”.
seven arguments for a much younger earth than the popular “consensus” thinks
From an paper on “archaeometric” dating by Andrew Snelling Feb.21, 2024, about the dating of brick and other clay artifacts in Israel archaeology diggings, I’ve excerpted portions that make a very solid case that the earth is not millions of years old.
Dr. Andrew Snelling holds a PhD in geology from the University of Sydney, Australia. He serves as Answers in Genesis’ Director of Research and is the Editor-in-Chief of the online Answers Research Journal. Dr. Snelling is active in research, writing and also speaking on topics such as the flood, fossils, the Grand Canyon, and the radioactive dating of rocks.
If you go directly to the paper the following quotes are from, you will find it followed by 18 footnotes for documentation.
Quotes are in italics.
1.The date of 586 BC for the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem is so well established that it can be used as a reference point for checking other dating methods.
“…to create an absolute chronology, archaeologists need to test their results against objects that are already securely and precisely dated…it is important to note that all historical and archaeological data show that there was no major destruction event in Jerusalem for centuries before or after the Babylonian destruction in 586 BC…[so] the biblical description of the conquest and the systematic destruction of Jerusalem by fire in August 586 BC. [gives us an absolute reference point].
According to the Bible’s description, this destruction was executed by professional “city destroyers,” under the command of Nebuzaradan, a highly ranked Babylonian official:
‘In the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month–that was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon–Nebuzaradan, the captain of the bodyguard, a servant of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem. And he burned the house of the Lord and the king’s house and all the houses of Jerusalem; every great house he burned down’. (2 Kings 25:8–9)
This detailed biblical description of the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians in 586 BC is considered historically reliable by the vast majority of researchers, who really only affirm what God’s inspired Word records. It’s hardly surprising to us that the above description and other biblical references to this event enable dating of the destruction almost to the day. Besides emphasizing the burning of the temple and the king’s palace, the biblical record emphasizes the destruction of elite houses.”
2. Radiometric carbon dating does not line up with this date, therefore an adjustment has to be made.
“…This admission that radiocarbon does not accurately date this well-attested Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem without subjective manipulation means that radiocarbon dating cannot be the objective absolute method it is so often claimed to be.”
3. The half-life of radioactive carbon is only ~ 5730 years, so there should be no measurable amount left in anything that is supposedly millions of years old, but C14 has indeed been detected in coal, oil, and, fossils [and diamonds].
“…a truly shocking discovery made over the past 40 years is that organic materials that are conventionally dated at up to 500 million years old, such as coal, oil, and fossils, all still contain measurable 14C and yield radiocarbon ages on the order of 50,000 years. Indeed, samples from US coal beds conventionally dated from 40 to over 300 million years old all yielded similar measurable 14C levels, with an average radiocarbon age of ~49,600 years. These radiocarbon results thus strongly imply that the plant life which formed the coal and the animals which were fossilized were all alive only thousands of years ago. From a biblical standpoint these organisms correspond to plants and animals that perished in the flood cataclysm of Noah’s day, only ~4,500 years ago. That implies something happened at the time of the flood to cause grossly inflated early post-flood radiocarbon ages.”
4. This is an indication that radioactive carbon, C14, which is produced from cosmic radiation bombarding regular carbon, C12, (found in CO2 and CH4) in the atmosphere.
“Now it needs to be remembered that all radiocarbon ages are based on assuming that the past rate of 14C production in the upper atmosphere has always been the same as the current measured rate. Thus, the grossly inflated early post-flood radiocarbon ages calculated from the measurable 14C levels in archaeological materials could be due to the 14C production rate in the upper atmosphere being lower in that period relative to today’s measured production rate.”
5. The exponential decline in the strength of the earth’s magnetic field could be the cause of the lower C14 prior to 586 B.C.
“…And the most likely cause for that would be the earth’s magnetic field being stronger in the past, which has even been confirmed by these archaeomagnetic studies of destruction layers of conquered cities in Israel that revealed the magnetic field was twice as intense as today’s measured magnetic field intensity even back in the 1000–500 BC period...
This finding that around 1000–500 BC the earth’s magnetic field was twice the intensity as today’s measured field is fully consistent with the evidence from measurements over the last 200 years that the earth’s magnetic field moment (its energy and strength) is decaying exponentially.”
6. At the rate the earth’s magnetic field strength is decreasing, it is easily calculated that the earth could not be more than 10,000 years old, if the magnetic field strength is caused by decaying electric currents in the earth’s core.
“This limits the age of the earth to <10,000 years, rather than the >4.5 billion years claimed by secular geologists. (They base the 4.5 billion years) on their assumption that the earth’s magnetic field is generated by a dynamo in the earth’s core. However, all the evidence points to the earth’s magnetic field instead being generated by decaying electrical currents in the earth’s core. Furthermore, the decline in the magnetic field strength and energy was increased during (Noah’s) flood due to mantle flow above the fluid outer core that caused magnetic reversals…”
7. Radiometric dating methods using long half-life elements like uranium are also likely millions of years off if the decay rate of radioactive elements was much more rapid during the violent upheaval of the world-wide flood. Biblical timelines date the flood of Noah to only about 4,300 years ago.
“Alternately, another likely cause of the grossly inflated flood and post-flood radiocarbon ages is change in the decay rate of 14C atoms during the global flood and then after the flood as the earth was recovering and stabilizing. Several lines of evidence have demonstrated that radioisotope decay rates were grossly accelerated by six orders of magnitude during the flood catastrophe, but then rapidly decelerated at the end of the flood into the early post-flood period. There was also a systematic pattern in the evidence indicating that the acceleration of the decay rates varied according to the atomic weights of the parent radioisotopes: the heavier the parent radioisotope, the greater the acceleration of the decay rate. Thus, since the half-life of 14C at 5730 years is very fleeting, its decay rate during the flood would have only been minimally accelerated. But there would still be the re-stabilizing period in the early years after the flood.”
the biblical timeline
Two other articles I wrote last year support the biblical timeline of a young earth, based on the summation of the ages of the patriarchs in the genealogies given in Genesis, chronicles, and the gospel of Matthew.

One set of phenomena I think needs to be studied has to do with Earth's water inventory. This involves ocean rise and glaciation/deglatiation. for which significant but incomplete data exist. As ice caps retreat, ocean levels should rise, but they have not risen enough to compensate for retreating ice caps and glaciers. By assuming that Earth is billions of years old, it is easy to look at the volume of water on Earth and declare consistency. However, if Earth's outer atmosphere allows some molecules of water vapor (or, more likely, its components and other gases) to migrate to decreasingly dense regions farther and farther from Earth's gravitational pull, the quantity of water on Earth gradually depletes. Nitrogen is the major component of Earth's atmosphere, and may be measurable over time somehow. Hydrogen apparently essentially flows into and out of Earth's upper atmosphere (above the magnetosphere, particularly), so it may be difficult to measure as well. Oxygen may be more easily measurable as an element, though I lack the expertise to explain how to explain changes over thousands of years. However, water can be measured by considering the volume locked in the icecaps at peak glaciation in the (last, if it turns out there were more than one) Ice Age; ocean levels then; and the volume of ice and ocean levels today. (More specifics pertain that would refine the measurements.) My studies on these lines indicate a significant loss of water within the past few thousand years. What I call anecdotal evidence, that includes population movements and ancient accounts in which water and weather are peripheral to the narrative, is consistent with a general desiccation. Similarly, geological evidence from all over the world--lost river/lake systems, desertification, e.g.) indicate wetter environments in the past than exist today. Starting without prejudice as to either the age of Earth, or a change in Earth's water inventory, then examining the multiple lines of evidence, the preponderance of evidence points to a significant, measurable loss of Earth's water over the past 5-10,000 years. Implications and projections further into the past can be proposed, and should be consistent with the observed data. It's what the Scientific Method is about.
